Internet & WiFi in Semuliki National Park – Connectivity Guide

Internet & WiFi in Semuliki National Park – Connectivity Guide

Uganda has a fairly stable internet connection, especially in towns and urban areas. However, when visiting the remote Semuliki National Park, it is best to book accommodation in town if you need reliable internet to avoid disappointment.

Inside the park, WiFi may be unstable, so most visitors rely on mobile data from MTN or Airtel. If you are a foreigner, your guide can help you buy a local SIM card and set up the internet settings so you can easily communicate with family or share safari updates.

Mobile data is often more reliable than WiFi in Semuliki. You can even use your guide’s mobile hotspot if you are unable to buy a SIM card. Another option is to purchase a portable WiFi device, which allows you to stay connected more comfortably during your safari.

Some parts of the park may have very weak or no signal, but this also gives you time to enjoy the wildlife without distraction. If you need to make calls at a specific time, your guide will advise you on the best places to do so.

Most lodges and hotels provide WiFi, though it may not always be fast or stable since many guests share the same connection. Always ask staff for the password or assistance in connecting. To avoid problems, discuss your internet needs with your guide in advance.

For visitors interested in filming, you must have official permission from the Uganda Media Council and Uganda Wildlife Authority. Filming without documents can result in penalties. Photography is allowed, but it is recommended to carry a waterproof camera or phone, especially in the rainy season. Despite the weather, you will still be able to capture wonderful photos of forests, wildlife, birds, rivers, and local communities.

Plan carefully and communicate your needs to ensure a smooth and enjoyable safari experience in Semuliki National Park.
