Filming & Photography in Semuliki National Park Uganda

Uganda, known as the Pearl of Africa, is home to Semuliki National Park, a place full of adventure and discovery. Among the best activities for visitors are filming and photography. These allow you to capture special moments as you explore areas such as the Sempaya Hot Springs, the Ituri Forest, Savannah grasslands, rivers, and birding spots.

The park is home to wildlife like leopards, hippos, elephants, monkeys, pygmy scaly-tailed flying squirrels, butterflies, and many bird species. A boat cruise on Lake Albert gives photographers and filmmakers a perfect chance to capture birds flying across the lake. Always hold your equipment carefully to avoid accidents around water.

To film or photograph in Semuliki, you must follow the required procedures. A media accreditation card is needed from the Uganda Media Council. This requires passport photocopies, passport-sized photos of each crew member, and a completed G form, which includes your visa details.

Visas can be applied for online, at your embassy, or on arrival at Entebbe International Airport. A tourist visa costs $50, and an invitation letter may also be required. All crew members must have a media card from the Uganda Media Council, and you must obtain a filming permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority to access park locations.

The best time for filming and photography is during the dry seasons, from December to February and from June to August. These months provide easier access to filming locations. The wet season is less favorable due to flooding, though prices are lower and many birds and plants can be seen. During this time, the forest and savannah appear very green.
