7-Day Murchison Falls, Semuliki, Kibale & Queen Elizabeth Safari

This 7-day safari takes you through Uganda’s most exciting destinations. The trip begins at Murchison Falls National Park, where the River Nile forces itself through a narrow gorge, creating the powerful falls. You will enjoy game drives and a boat cruise before heading to western Uganda to visit Semuliki National Park, famous for its hot springs, primates, and birdlife.

You will also visit the Amabere Ga’Nyinamwiru caves, track chimpanzees in Kibale National Park, and take a crater lakes tour in Isunga. The safari ends with a visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and a game drive in the Kasenyi plains before returning to Kampala.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Meet your driver-guide at the agreed point in Kampala and set off for Murchison Falls National Park, home to the world’s most powerful waterfall and four of the Big Five animals. Along the way, you can choose an optional stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking.

On arrival at the park, visit the top of the falls to watch the Nile squeeze through a narrow gorge, often creating a rainbow. Later, proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise

After breakfast, take a morning game drive on the northern banks of the Nile. Look out for lions, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, duikers, bushbucks, and waterbucks. The drive lasts about two hours and includes a stop at the hippo pool.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile. This two-hour trip lets you see crocodiles, hippos, and other wildlife. You will also have a clear view of the falls from below before heading back to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Transfer to Fort Portal

Have breakfast and drive to Fort Portal, Uganda’s tourism city. On the way, stop at a tea plantation to learn about tea growing, harvesting, and processing. Arrive in Fort Portal in the evening, check in at your hotel, have dinner, and rest.

Day 4: Visit Semuliki National Park and Amabere Ga’Nyinamwiru caves

After breakfast, drive to Semuliki National Park, passing through the Rwenzori Mountain ranges. On arrival, get a briefing at the park office and then take a guided nature walk. Look out for birds, monkeys, and baboons along the trail. The walk leads to the famous Sempaya hot springs, where you can learn about their formation and see eggs or bananas boiled in the hot water.

Later, return to Fort Portal for lunch before visiting the Amabere Ga’Nyinamwiru caves and Nyakasura Falls. Here, you will hear local stories linked to the stalactites and stalagmites. Return to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale and crater lakes tour

After breakfast, transfer to Kibale National Park for a briefing at the visitor center. Rangers will explain the rules for chimpanzee trekking and guide you into the forest. During the trek, you may see monkeys, baboons, and colobus monkeys. Once you find the chimpanzees, spend one hour observing their feeding, playing, and social behaviors. The trek usually lasts 3–4 hours.

After the trek, enjoy your packed lunch before visiting the Isunga crater lakes for a scenic tour. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and boat cruise

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a journey of about 2–3 hours. The drive offers views of the Rwenzori Mountains, banana plantations, and local markets. Stop at Kikorongo for a quick equator photo, then continue to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The cruise gives you a chance to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and many birds such as pelicans, kingfishers, and African skimmers. On your way back, enjoy an evening game drive before heading to your lodge for dinner.

Day 7: Morning game drive and return to Kampala

Start your day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Look out for lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, and antelopes. After the drive, exit the park and begin your return journey to Kampala. You will be dropped off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport, marking the end of your 7-day safari.
