This 10-day Uganda safari takes you through wildlife, culture, and natural wonders. You will track mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, visit Murchison Falls, enjoy game drives, and see the Sempaya hot springs. You will also meet the Batwa community and explore Lake Bunyonyi. The safari starts and ends in Kampala.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park with Rhino Trekking
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in Kampala and drive you to Murchison Falls National Park. On the way, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see white rhinos. Continue with lunch in Masindi before entering the park. Along the drive, you may see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, kobs, waterbucks, and warthogs. Arrive at your lodge, check in, and rest. Dinner will be served in the evening.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
After an early breakfast, go for a game drive in the northern sector of the park. Look out for lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes. The drive takes about 2–3 hours. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile to the base of the falls. Spot crocodiles, hippos, elephants, and birds along the way. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Fort Portal with Hoima Market Visit
Have breakfast, check out, and drive to Fort Portal. Stop at Hoima Central Market to interact with vendors and shop for souvenirs. Continue to Fort Portal with lunch en route. On arrival, explore the town before checking in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Semuliki Nature Walk and Hot Springs
After breakfast, transfer to Semuliki National Park. From the park headquarters, take a guided nature walk. Look out for birds such as the honeyguide, Gabon woodpecker, and serpent eagle, as well as monkeys and baboons. Visit the Sempaya hot springs and learn about local stories linked to them. You may boil eggs in the hot water. Return to Fort Portal for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale
After breakfast, transfer to Kibale National Park. At Kanyanchu Visitor Center, get a briefing before heading into the forest with rangers. Track a group of habituated chimpanzees and spend one hour watching them feed, play, and move through the forest. The trek lasts 2–5 hours depending on their location. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Boat Cruise
After breakfast, drive for about 2 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On arrival, check in at your lodge, have lunch, and later take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and many bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi
After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Expect to see lions, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, elephants, and Uganda kobs. Later, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through Ishasha sector, known for tree-climbing lions. Lunch is en route. Arrive in Buhoma sector, check in at your lodge, and relax. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit
Wake up early for breakfast and carry a packed lunch. Head to the park offices for a briefing, then start your gorilla trek with a ranger guide. Once you find the gorilla family, spend one hour observing them. The trek may last 2–6 hours depending on their location. After the trek, visit the Batwa community to learn about their traditional forest life, hunting, fire-making, music, and dances. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Boat Cruise
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, a journey of about 4–5 hours. Arrive at your lodge, check in, and relax. In the afternoon, take a boat trip to explore some of the 29 islands. Learn about the lake’s history and interact with local people. Spot birds and small wildlife on the islands. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10: Return to Kampala – End of Safari
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Kampala. Stop in Mbarara for lunch and in Kayabwe for the equator crossing and souvenir shopping. Continue to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your flight. This marks the end of your 10-day Uganda safari with Semuliki National Park.
